I'm really very upset at the moment but I don't entirely know why *sigh* I'm going crazy =[
Anyway I thought I would blog to clear my head and just talk about the somewhat eventful weekend.
Friday arvo was nice, Tim organised to go see inception and we ended up with a decent sized group, in order of appearance: Tim, ryan, warren, Tilbrook, Alyssa, Michelle, Peter, Stephanie, Jamie, 2 of Jamies friends + Kate. Some of them had Nando's and eventually we went and saw the movie. As i said b4 I wasn't interested in seeing this and even less because of all the hype. Possibly the last movie I had high hopes for also starred leonardo decaprio, Shutter Island. I was so excited to see it and it was the HUGEST let down. That'll teach me to look forward to things =.=
Anyway I saw a few youtube reviews for this and the common opinion was that it was this years best film out so far and that it was fantastic/amazing/[insert synonyms here]. So naturally, I was skeptical. Ehh, I'd have to say it wasn't mind blowing or amazing like a lot of people made it out to be, but at the very least it wasn't a complete waste of my time like most other films I've seen since...well dating Tim. It kept me interested..but mostly I was staying vigilant, I had to snap myself back into the movie a few times. A lot of the reviews said it was really complicated so I didn't want to miss anything that may have been crucial...but well, it wasn't a mind fuck at all. There were some kool effects but if you have seen even a snippet of the trailer then you have probably already seen all the kool parts of it anyway. One thing I did think was lacking was more creativity in the dream worlds. There were moments before they went into the main dream where they could have done so many amazing things but they just played around with the physics of things. LAME.
As for best movie of the year, well possibly. There has been a hell of a lot of SHIT out this year from hollywood BUT I must say, I LOVED How to Train a Dragon and would choose that over this any day. That movie left me feeling content and I would totally watch it again. Inception, I'd watch maybe once more, just on Blue Ray because I noticed today that the add for it on Tim's tv looked WAY better than the entire movie did at the cinema. As a whole, it didn't do anything for me, it didn't cover any uncharted territory (which I know is hard to do but in a film like this, where there is no laughter, no fuzzy feeling at the end or even epic action scenes, that really is all it could possibly offer) or even impart some sort of profound message. Conclusion: not worth the money.
THE best part of the movie was at the end when the movie abruptly finished and the ENTIRE cinema (which was completely filled btw) sighed out of frustration in unison...and then burst out laughing because everyone had the same reaction.
Anywho, then we all went to Lucky Star..or Blue star..iunno what it's called, the cafe Nat works at. That was kind of awkward. The table divided into my friends and Tim's friends and just did not mix but ehhh oh well. The tables weren't suited to such a large group anyway. Peter took me home and we talked for ages ^.^
SATURDAY I was dead, I had gone to bed at almost 6am and then had to get up and wash my costume for dancing. Then peter drove me to Lillies place for practice which was meant to start at 4.30 but of course people didn't show up till like 6 and then spent forever doing makeup and then we ate oh and there was singstar and eventually practice for like 10 minutes *sigh* Got to Petersham RSl at around 10pm and performed at 11.30. It was actually our best performance so far XD No one stuffed up and it turned out great XD
Fun times. I really like that we've had so many performances over the last couple of weeks. They're so much fun and our dance group is really nice and everyone is good to be around XD Plus I like these events because afterwards we get to just dance to normal latino music which b4 I joined the group usually only happened once a year at the Chilean festival. It's the bomb plus we all dance together <3 I've never had anyone my own age to dance this kind of music to haha...It really is rare to find these kinds of people, I feel really lucky. Plus I haven't had any other plans the last couple of weekends so it has worked out perfectly XD
If you've ever wondered wtf kind of dancing it is I do, here is a clip from that night from one of our dances. This style is called Gaita:
hehe =]
You know what else is good, most of these events cost like $25-$30 to get in and because we're performing we get in free XD hazza!
oh yer, headscarf, so sexy =.=
So we danced the night away, mum was there for the first time. As usual she was nasty the entire time, I don't know why she even bothered to come. My aunty came too XD
SO Sunday..lol i had gone to bed around 4am and woke up at 5.30pm. The latest I've gotten up in ages but it was worth it. I spent the rest of the arvo studying for bio and then mum brought over Abraham and my gran and they stayed the night. It was the first time I had seen them in ages...ehh
TODAY: I totally spaced on the Park's dinner thing. THE REASON: because I didn't RSVP! and I thought why bother going to get food. I get a call at 6.10 saying where are you and I was all chilled and told her I was studying and she spazzed lol. So i called Tim and luckily he got the car and drove us there, for the last like 2 minutes of the meetings and then got the free food which was decent. I felt so rude ARGH she could have told me she RSVP'd for me...or told me it was on, the only reason I vaguely knew was because she handed me a letter on Thursday which I didn't even really read. Then Bronko asked us to come but he said it was just dinner. So i thought, why waste resources.
Then went back to Tims and then back here. I feel better...except now I'm going to get bored and I'm capped and I spent all day doing bio...ugh I suppose I should finish the notes for this section and then go to bed. I need to get up early for another LOUD! Tribe related meeting in the morning.
ugh..im bored of bio! and I've rewatched Big Bang Theory so many times that I've picked up all the inaccuracies...and they're really bugging me. Things like: -Sheldon giving penny a coy flirty smile in the pilot when talking about his board. HE DOESN'T LIKE HUMAN CONTACT why on earth would he attempt to flirt. -The Sheldon knock. He doesn't always have it and it certainly wasn't something they ran with from the begining. -Sheldon and Leonard make a discovery that already exists (I remember studying it in chemistry in year 12) -In the pilot Leonard invites penny over for indian food that they already bought and although Shledon does protest this invitation he doesn't even mention the fact that they wouldn't have enough food. Then in the episode walowits gets a gf Sheldon makes sharing/splitting food a MASSIVE deal. -Sheldon is okay with throwing away a brand new roasted chicken to cover for Leonard's retarded lie about checking the mail. Something he wouldn't stand for in other eps BUT what's even more out of character is that he then thinks about picking it out of the trash! AS IF a germaphobe would even consider that. -The nurse that works the sperm bank in the pilot is the same nurse in the ER at the end of season 1 -Penny reuses one of her tops (yet has something new on in every other episode)
YES i know...too much *sigh* But there are no good shows and youtube gets boring and at the moment I'm capped. Oh and Making it in America was pretty lame, it's about these two trendy new yorkers who want to start a jeans label.
Masterchef junior looks like it will be fun..not that I ever watched masterchef..cooking shows annoy me. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO JUDGE FOOD IF I CAN'T TASTE IT
So one day I was hanging out with Kurt and we realised that there are some pretty wacky sayings in the spanish language.
Each Spanish speaking country has their own sayings, metaphors and similies but these are a few that I have collected over the last year or so.
Every time I hear my mum or grandma say a new one I text Kurt XD It has become somewhat of a little tradition for me now =]
Saying: La negrita astuta vende fruta.
Direct Translation: The (Astute, cunning, sly, crafty, fraudulent) cute/little black girl sells fruit.
Meaning: This saying is said as a sort of warning that you are/someone else is a cocktease
Saying: No calientes el agua (si no vas a tomar té)
Direct Translation: Don't heat the water if you're not going to drink tea
Meaning: This is also a sort of warning to someone who is being a cocktease. Kind of like, don't flirt and lead someone on if you have no intention of hooking up with them. It is also a play on words because in Spanish (Chilean at least) the word calentar (to heat) is also used informally as a way to say 'make horny'. So 'estoy caliente' = I'm hot BUT it means I'm horny. If you wanted to say I'm hot (because of the weather) you would say 'tengo calor'
Tongue Twister: Tres tristes tigres trigo trillaron tranquilos tragaron
Translation: Three sad tigers, wheat they threshed (To separate the grain from the straw or husks by mechanical beating), calmly they swallowed.
Tongue Twister:Pedro Pablo Pérez Pereira pobre pintor portugués pinta paisajes por poca plata para pasar por París
Translation: Pedro Pablo Pérez Pereira poor Portugese painter paints landscapes for little money to pass through Paris.
Saying:Buscarle la quinta pata al gato
Direct Translation:To look for the 5th leg of the cat
Meaning: Looking for problems when there clearly aren't any in that situation, so you're over thinking it and overcomplicating yourself.
Saying: Para ser bella hay que ver estrellas
Direct Translation: To be beautiful you have to see stars
Meaning: I'm guessing this is a fairly old saying because my grandad said it to me once, I kind of fell in love with this little rhyme/mantra. It means that no pain is too great to endure in order to look your best, this particularly refers to women having to wear painful shoes (stilettos) because it makes their legs look hot, wearing tight clothing to show off curves, waxing, plucking, dying hair, and I suppose nowadays you could extend that into getting cosmetic surgery. Just to clarify, my grandad wasn't a dick, I remember the saying coming up because we were watching a show with really attractive women and I was in awe of them and he explained that constructed superficial beauty comes at a price =) Oh and if you don't get the imagery, it's based on seeing "stars" when you hit your head/get dizzy, like if you've ever seen the cartoon representation of stars around the head when they get hit.
*To be continued
To Do.
Here's a list of some of the things I would like to do or accomplish or places I want to visit in my lifetime =]
* I have already been there, done that or started to read that but would like to do it again or complete the task
-- The task is completed and I don't feel the need to do a repeat
