I really love true blood, it's a fantastic show and I know that there are a lot of skeptics around because they hate Twilight and it seems to have entirely ruined all things vampire for most people. =.=
Not kool. BUT True Blood is very different to the whole hopelessly romantic world of twilight with it's feeble protagonist Bella who constantly needs saving and a man around to make her happy. Right from the get-go True Blood introduces a fiery heroin (Sookie Stackhouse) who not only has a really hot southern accent and very perky tits but also kicks ass and SAVES the vampire. The world of True Blood is fascinating, vampires have come out to the public and are trying to gain acceptance from "normal" people and their main reasoning behind thinking it was time to come out is because there has been a synthetic blood created called True Blood which is enough to sustain a vampire without having to kill humans.
It's a great show and it touches on much more interesting themes than Twilight did. The biggest would be the characters sexuality, actually that's not fair, Twilight delves into that but pretty much just leaves it at, it's awesome BUT not untill ur married or u you WILL go to hell. In True Blood you're presented with both the sexually repressed and then characters who are completely comfortably with their sexuality and openly enjoy sex. They deal with the whole virgins thing in the most interesting way in season two with Jessica, a teenager who gets turned before she has ever gotten the chance to experience an intimate relationship. SERIOUSLY, the BOMB. Then there are the sexual deviants (fangbangers) who are looked upon with total disgust by almost everyone. The complete demonization of the sexually charged and aggressive sexual acts that the Vampires partake in with their victims and in their covens as a group (we're assaulted with that in the 2nd episode). No one is choosy, all vampires seem to be pansexuals.
Oh ohhh and possibly THE hottest moment in the entire series so far, the hidden sexuality behind the uptight, wealthy, conservative, PASTOR'S WIFE. She is uber religious and her justifying messing around with Jason using bible reference while giving him a handy in the bathtub is icing on the cake.
(The references to Jason being Jesus make more sense if you watch the show. Jason is basically the messiah to this right wing, bible bashing, extremist church who are anti vampires)
ehheheee ♥ so hot. ughh..Imagine being him, in that situation *DIES* ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
So then there is that whole aspect which i LOVE. In the second season they go into religious extremists and killing for the greater good. FASCINATING. Or even just the whole, vampires gaining acceptance in the eyes of the world. Sorry if I offend anyone but their quest for equality parallels that of the gay community, and that makes this show all the more interesting and sookies open-mindedness something to praise. OHOHH or how some vampires are furious that they have been outed and don't want to stick to a synthetic diet and are fighting with other vampires. Or how there are covens and districts and vampire supremacy. Or the whole drug thing. Great stuff. The newest and HOTTEST drug on the market, V. VAMPIRE BLOOD XD Super expensive, addictive and AMAZING.
Plus, possibly the best part about shows/books with supernatural themes is that you can just keep going and goingggg and going for ages because of the amount of mythical creatures there are out there.
Anyway the original point of this blog wasn't actually to promote the show, it was to talk about how much money they are spending on promoting the 3rd season which is coming out the 13th of June. JUST ONE MORE MONTH XD yayyy
oh oh and just b4 i go into the promotion stuff they have been doing.
I finally convinced Tim to watch the first ep with me, and to be honest, I got a little bored in it...which didn't help =[ Tim was an ass about it and fast forwarded fru it and didn't attempt to watch the next episode..but ugh watever. The first season is pretty good but the 2nd season really sees the show come out of it's shell. The first couple episodes of season 1 are kinda gimmicky, throwing out as many graphic sex scenes as they can to get audiences and..i never really did love Sookie..she's annoying BUT yer. 2nd season is much better.
SOOO I was reading earlier today, and that is what prompted me to write this. True Blood did a FASHION SHOW at the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week last week. Which i find REALLY odd. I didn't think they would bother doing something as costly as that in AUSTRALIA. :S and I don't know much about fashion shows, but I'm pretty sure, fashion shows in Aus aren't all that, seeing as we're not exactly a fashion mecca of the world (places like Paris and New York and Tokyo..even Sao Paulo, spring to mind). I guess True Blood couldn't afford to do it at one of those :S and I suppose this fashion week is the closest to the season premier? maybe?
The clothing wasn't that great, I'm not entirely sure who the designer is..or if he matters much in the fashion world (Alvin Manalo) but as far as vampire inspired clothing goes, this was a pretty sad attempt. The same goes for the makeup or the music or the general atmosphere of the show. I want to embed it but i don't know how =[
I think I only liked one thing, the black blazer jumpsuit. The rest was meh. And the show stopper was, again, too gimmicky, with the whole dress drenched in blood. IT'S BEEN DONE BEFORE.
Actually watching that again, it's for the premier of season 2 on DVD...wow that is a lot of effort just for DVD's
BTW i LOVE ♥ Chrome fangs, the last time I saw them was after hellfire one night, on this somewhat dreamy guy..lol (purely for his aesthetic). He was sitting alone in hyde park on top of some statue platform thing, in the dark, 2am-ish, long hair, couldn't see his face, wearing something stunning, a glisten from a chrome fang and THEN ...he spoke *dies* POMMY ACCENT. fuck. I'm sure if I met him in any other circumstance he would be total fail. And totally pretentious
lol
Back to their promotion. They have also been slowly releasing 'minisodes' in the buildup of season 3 and releasing a new promotional poster every week. The posters are kinda shit...so are the minisodes...except for one with Jessica in it. But not enough to make me wanna see season3 if i hadn't seen the rest.
Here's my favourite poster
and here's the wallpaper for season 3...i like the style of it...but I don't think it captures the show at all. This makes it seem magical. And this show..isn't. To me, it feels grimy..the intro song captures that perfectly.
Here's the intro, I really like this song, I like that it feels sorta..southern..if that makes sense :S
So one day I was hanging out with Kurt and we realised that there are some pretty wacky sayings in the spanish language.
Each Spanish speaking country has their own sayings, metaphors and similies but these are a few that I have collected over the last year or so.
Every time I hear my mum or grandma say a new one I text Kurt XD It has become somewhat of a little tradition for me now =]
Saying: La negrita astuta vende fruta.
Direct Translation: The (Astute, cunning, sly, crafty, fraudulent) cute/little black girl sells fruit.
Meaning: This saying is said as a sort of warning that you are/someone else is a cocktease
Saying: No calientes el agua (si no vas a tomar té)
Direct Translation: Don't heat the water if you're not going to drink tea
Meaning: This is also a sort of warning to someone who is being a cocktease. Kind of like, don't flirt and lead someone on if you have no intention of hooking up with them. It is also a play on words because in Spanish (Chilean at least) the word calentar (to heat) is also used informally as a way to say 'make horny'. So 'estoy caliente' = I'm hot BUT it means I'm horny. If you wanted to say I'm hot (because of the weather) you would say 'tengo calor'
Tongue Twister: Tres tristes tigres trigo trillaron tranquilos tragaron
Translation: Three sad tigers, wheat they threshed (To separate the grain from the straw or husks by mechanical beating), calmly they swallowed.
Tongue Twister:Pedro Pablo Pérez Pereira pobre pintor portugués pinta paisajes por poca plata para pasar por París
Translation: Pedro Pablo Pérez Pereira poor Portugese painter paints landscapes for little money to pass through Paris.
Saying:Buscarle la quinta pata al gato
Direct Translation:To look for the 5th leg of the cat
Meaning: Looking for problems when there clearly aren't any in that situation, so you're over thinking it and overcomplicating yourself.
Saying: Para ser bella hay que ver estrellas
Direct Translation: To be beautiful you have to see stars
Meaning: I'm guessing this is a fairly old saying because my grandad said it to me once, I kind of fell in love with this little rhyme/mantra. It means that no pain is too great to endure in order to look your best, this particularly refers to women having to wear painful shoes (stilettos) because it makes their legs look hot, wearing tight clothing to show off curves, waxing, plucking, dying hair, and I suppose nowadays you could extend that into getting cosmetic surgery. Just to clarify, my grandad wasn't a dick, I remember the saying coming up because we were watching a show with really attractive women and I was in awe of them and he explained that constructed superficial beauty comes at a price =) Oh and if you don't get the imagery, it's based on seeing "stars" when you hit your head/get dizzy, like if you've ever seen the cartoon representation of stars around the head when they get hit.
*To be continued
To Do.
Here's a list of some of the things I would like to do or accomplish or places I want to visit in my lifetime =]
* I have already been there, done that or started to read that but would like to do it again or complete the task
-- The task is completed and I don't feel the need to do a repeat
